Worlds and bosses
A run is nine rounds: three worlds of two ordinary rounds and a boss. The boards grow from 6×6 to 9×9 and the target score rises every round.
The Salon (rounds 1-3)
Warm paper and a music box. Plain 6×6 boards to learn the order of play.
The Organ loft (rounds 4-6)
Dusk-blue. The boards grow to 9×9 and round 6 is a heavier boss.
The Concert hall (rounds 7-9)
Deep red velvet, 9×9 boards, and the Finale in round 9: two boss rules at once.
Boss rounds
Which bosses a run gets follows from its seed, and the game shows them from the first move. Round 3 is a light boss, round 6 a heavy one, and the Finale combines two rules the run has not seen yet.
- Mirror: Both diagonals hold every digit once.
- Cornerer: The digit never sits in a corner.
- Mute: Blocks do not raise the multiplier.
- Hurry: Three moves fewer; the target is lower too.
- Fade: The multiplier drops x0.3 after every move that finishes no area.
- Offbeat: Every second move scores half.
- Silence: The board does not show which areas a move finishes.
- Maestro: Only figures raise the multiplier; each figure adds x2 extra.
- Strict hand: Your first wrong move costs three moves.
Instruments
Once you have won a run you can start with another instrument. Each changes how you play; none is bought.
- Music box: The standard game.
- Metronome: One extra move every round, but your multiplier starts at x0.5.
- Organ: Blocks add x3, rows and columns x1.5.
- Violin: Digits 5 and up score one and a half times, lower digits half.
- Timpani: Start with a relic of your choice; the score offers one relic fewer.
- Tuning fork: A wrong move ends the round, but every move scores x1.5.
Opus
Eight steps of difficulty per instrument. Every step adds a rule on top of the ones before it, and never changes the board.
- The standard game.
- Targets 8% higher.
- Boss rounds have one move fewer.
- The score offers one relic fewer after ordinary rounds.
- Targets another 8% higher.
- A wrong move costs two moves.
- At most six relics.
- The Finale has three rules.
Endless
After round nine you can go on. Each round the target rises by 15 percent on the last board type.
